FIAAC 2026 at Domaine Michot: France 3 Bourgogne reports from the wine cellars
From 30 April to 3 May 2026 I had the pleasure of showing my paintings and my ceramics at Domaine Michot, in Saint-Andelain (Nièvre), as part of the twelfth edition of FIAAC en Pouilly Fumé, the international fair of contemporary art held in the wine cellars. For one long weekend, the winegrowers of the appellation become gallerists: sculptures and paintings take their place among the vats and the bottles.
France 3’s news programme ici 19/20 Bourgogne devoted a report to the event, “Pouilly-Fumé: art among the vines”, filmed in Tracy-sur-Loire and Saint-Andelain by Rémi Chidaine, Sophie Hemar and M. Martin, and broadcast during the fair in early May 2026.
A wine cellar turned into a gallery
The France 3 cameras stopped at Domaine Michot, where my ceramic birds, my white forests and my canvases were in dialogue with the architecture of the cellar. Working on site for four days, I had to tame this place of work in order to find my own place in it. What I said about it to the France 3 microphone:
“Here we have a wonderful space. There is the space, and then there is an atmosphere. The two go together very well, in fact: the two worlds enrich each other.”
Marielle Michot, winegrower and president of the Rendez-vous du Pouilly-Fumé, summed up the spirit of the fair, which this year brought together thirteen winegrowers:
“It is a real pleasure to turn the cellar into a gallery. And each time a particular bond is formed with the artist we invite. It is also an important event for the wine region: Pouilly-Fumé will soon celebrate its 90th anniversary.”
A different audience, a different way of looking
As the report points out, for the winegrowers FIAAC is “an opening onto another world and a chance to reach a new audience”. For me it is just as true the other way round: visitors come to taste the wine, discover works around the corner of a vat, and the encounter happens without the protocol of a Paris gallery. One visitor interviewed by France 3 put it simply: “You taste a little, you look at beautiful things… it is not like going to a gallery in Paris.”
